Modeling Dynamics in Land Use and Land Cover and Its Future Projection for the Amazon Biome

نویسندگان

چکیده

The objectives were to analyze the dynamics of land use and cover Amazon biome over time through spatial modeling, project its future scenario with Land Change Modeler (LCM) module. This analysis was based on 1985, 2014 2017 data from MapBiomas project, which associated socioeconomic explanatory variables Cramer-V test. Results showed that Forest Formation class occupied 3,844,800.75 km2 (91.20%) in 2014, there a reduction 3,452,129.25 (81.89%). pasture had an initial area 71,046.50 (1.69%), expressive increase 437,670.00 (10.38%). made it possible verify Pastures classes suffered most changes, followed by Annual Perennial Culture Mosaic Agriculture Pasture. projected coverage for 2044 suggests will be due significant Pasture class. simulations foreseen this work are important tool can provide subsidies supporting territorial planning region, public policies, encouragement best practices reduced impact areas.

Modeling Land-use and Land-cover Change

Models are used in a variety of fields, including land change science, to better understand the dynamics of systems, to develop hypotheses that can be tested empirically, and to make predictions and/or evaluate scenarios for use in assessment activities. Modeling is an important component of each of the three foci outlined in the science plan of the Land-use and -cover change (LUCC) project (Tu...

Performance comparison of land change modeling techniques for land use projection of arid watersheds

The change of land use/land cover has been known as an imperative force in environmental alteration, especially in arid and semi-arid areas. This research was mainly aimed to assess the validity of two major types of land change modeling techniques via a three dimensional approach in Birjand urban watershed located in an arid climatic region of Iran. Thus, a Markovian approach based on two suit...

Land Use Dynamics in the Brazilian Amazon

The articles presented in this special issue of Ecological Economics address the important theme of land use dynamics as it pertains to the Brazilian Amazon. Much environmental change is an ecological artifact of human agency, and such agency is often manifested in land use impacts, particularly in tropical areas. The critical problem of tropical deforestation is but one example of a land use d...

Spatiotemporal analysis of land use and land cover change in the Brazilian Amazon.

This paper provides a comparative analysis of land use and land cover (LULC) changes among three study areas with different biophysical environments in the Brazilian Amazon at multiple scales, from per-pixel, polygon, census sector, to study area. Landsat images acquired in the years of 1990/1991, 1999/2000, and 2008/2010 were used to examine LULC change trajectories with the post-classificatio...

Classification of Land Use and Land Cover in the Brazilian Amazon using Fuzzy Multilayer Perceptrons

Here the authors propose the use of Fuzzy Multilayer Perceptrons for classification of land use and land cover patterns in the Brazilian Amazon, using time series of vegetation index, taken from NASA’s MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) sensor. In addition to the traditional Multilayer Perceptron (MLP), three fuzzy implementations were investigated. These methods were applied...
